Graffeg are incredibly pleased to announce that they will be publishing the official calendar for Amanda Owen, the Yorkshire Shepherdess.
The calendar will share the joys and challenges of the lives of Amanda, her husband and their seven children at Ravenseat, a 2000 acre hill farm at the head of Swaledale in North Yorkshire, one of the highest and most remote places in England.
A keen photographer, Amanda documents the local landscapes and changing seasons, highlighting the role they play in family farming life. Their way of living is one that is almost gone in today’s modern world. A life that is ruled not by computers and technologies but by seasons, children and animals. Amanda says ‘Life at Ravenseat is not easy, with the beautiful but bleak, harsher months of winter, but it is balanced by the joys of spring and early summer, with lambs being born and the birds returning’.
The Owen family first gained popularity when they appeared on three series of ITV1’s The Dales, attracting around 4m viewers per show. Amanda has subsequently gained over 8,500 followers on Twitter, where she posts regular updates about life on the farm. Through her calendar, Amanda and her family hope to share further insight with the world into how they farm their land, with footnotes and key calendar dates demonstrating the different challenges they face across the year.
The calendar will be released 1 September but is available to preorder via our online store now.
