Lost Tramways of Wales Poster – Newport
Archival photograph taken from Lost Tramways of Wales: South Wales and Valleys.
Caption reads: ‘The Newport tram system operated on both sides of the River Usk. On the west bank of the river were the routes to the docks, Risca and Malpas Road, whilst on the east were the services to Chepstow Road, Caerleon Road and Corporation Road. Here one of the fleet’s fully-enclosed cars heads east across the Maindee Bridge. Today, although the railway bridge in the background still exists, the building across the Usk is long gone; Clarence House now stands on the site.’
