Amanda Owen is a shepherdess, wife and mother living on a 2000 acre hill farm in Ravenseat, North Yorkshire. She and her husband Clive manage their flock of 1000 sheep, nine children, 120 cows, eight horses, seven dogs, pigs and chickens between them. Amanda makes for an unlikely shepherdess. She grew up in urban Huddersfield and has no family link with the land, but found herself drawn to life as a shepherdess. The day she first visited Ravenseat a bond was forged that would last forever.
Amanda Owen, The Yorkshire Shepherdess, first rose to fame when she and her family appeared on three seasons of ITV’s The Dales where their lives were watched by millions of hooked viewers. Amanda then began to share further insights into her unusual day job via Twitter and now has a dedicated following of more than 15,000 followers. Amanda is a Top Ten best-selling author, having released her first book in 2014. This followed with a return to the Top 10 with the paperback release in February 2015. Her second book, A Year in the Life of the Yorkshire Shepherdess, was published in May 2016 and reached the number 2 spot in the Sunday Times best-seller list.
