Here is a unique and personal guide to what is happening in Welsh gardens today, be they large or small, contemporary town gardens or delightfully old-fashioned country gardens; to see how they relate to the wild and wonderful landscapes that surround them, now and in the past, and looking at the personalities, ideas and ambitions behind them.

Stephen Anderton is well known to readers of The Times for his ability to take his readers around a garden in words, and show how it really feels to be there, wielding his scalpel wit as he explores their beauty and what they do well, while keenly observing their problems and even their failures.

With Anderton as a tour leader, you will certainly be provoked into visiting these Welsh gardens for yourself, not just to enjoy their glorious planting, but to look afresh at the designs and how they work, and finally to ask yourself, does this work for me? What would I do here? How would I have made this garden?

Discovering Welsh Gardens is a must not just for gardeners in Wales but for everyone interested in gardens.
