Pembrokeshire David Wilson is a collection of 50 stunning black and white coastal and landscape photographs of Pembrokeshire and West Wales in a high quality hardback book. A beautiful glimpse into the captivating landscape of one of the most picturesque corners of Wales.
The Pembrokeshire landscape is a subtle mix of gently rolling farmland in the south of the county, the Preseli Mountains and numerous scattered rocky peaks to the north, meandering rivers and the Cleddau Estuary. Besides the oil industry centred around the Milford Haven waterway - one of the deepest natural harbours in the world - Pembrokeshire has remained wonderfully unscathed by heavy industry.
The stunning images in the book have a sentimental significance, triggering priceless memories with a single, breathtaking view. As Jamie Owen describes in his introduction, "There is more to David's work than a romantic snap of beautiful countryside. This is landscape photography at its most powerful - he has the ability to delight and unnerve simultaneously."
As well as capturing the beautiful Pembrokeshire coastline, David Wilson explores a range of hidden landscapes, stressing that his photography "is about photographing the parts which people ordinarily wouldn't search out. There are secret parts to Pembrokeshire which if you can find them are absolutely stunning."
Here are just a handful of popular locations featured in the photographs:
- Barafundle
- Whitesands
- St. Davids
- Tenby
- Freshwater
- Druidstone Havens
- The Preseli's

In the case of this book, [it] gets as close to silver prints as mass production allows. That's no surprise as publisher Graffeg has a reputation for high quality photography-based books and technically this one is a cracker...I can't help feeling that many copies of this book will be bought as a gift for aspiring snappers...

"...one Welsh photographer has captured a hidden side to the country's shoreline, lanes and mountains with a series of images mainly taken outside the main visitor season."
Jude Roland | Welsh Arts Now |
If the power and ineffable beauty of Wilson's images don't make this one of your favourite books, then his down-to-earth jottings ought to.
