Michael Davies
When you had both the location and architecture, then you knew you were looking at one of the best houses in the country
Michael Davies
Michael Davis graduated from the Welsh School of Architecture in 1987 and went to study building conservation at the Architectural Association in London. He formed Davies Sutton Architects in 1993, which has now become one of the most respected conservation practices in the country. Some of his more notable works include the restoration of Sker House, Glamorgan, which received a RIBA award, the Shell Grotto in Pontypool Park and new visitors centres in Caerphilly Castle, Aberdulais Falls and Raglan Castle.
Michael was appointed chairman of the Historic Churches Committee for Wales in 1999 and is Cathedral Architect to St Woolos in Newport. He regularly lectures on building conservation and is particularly interested in how new buildings can fit into an historic setting. Michael co-presented the television series Discovering Welsh Houses.
